Tour de France: Stage 8 Macon to Saint-Etienne

Beaujolais! We have no idea what day of the week it is. Instead we refer to each day as the stage number so today is day 8 and what an epic day it was! We started in the Beaujolais region, riding through some spectacular vineyards. This stage had hills galore. So much so, you could be forgiven for thinking someone was having a laugh when they designed it. Just when you think you must have done every climb, you turn a corner and another one pops up. Regardless, it’s definitely the best stage so far. Although there are a lot of hills, none of them were as brutal as in stage 6 and the scenery all day was absolutely incredible! The hills and beauty continued after lunch with beautiful climbs and descents winding through the lush green countryside. The towns and villages were stunning and beautifully decorated in anticipation of the tour passing through tomorrow. It’s definitely a course that would be incredible to race and as mentioned above by far the best stage so far! Bring on tomorrow...170km of hills!
